MVP Blue Jackets 16/17u make Berkshire Championship a Nail Biter!
The MVP Blue Jackets 16/17u team was the talk of the town at Big Vision Sports Complex for the Patriots Day Classic Tournament. After defeating Walk Off Legacy, West Lawn Owls, Lower Macgungie Mustangs, and the Collegeville Cubs, in flawless fashion, the #1 Seed, MVP Blue Jackets was scheduled to meet the opposing Pools #1 Seed, the Berkshire Black Sox. Both teams met each other Sunday evening for the Championship game carrying a 4-0 record. Although it was the hottest weekend of Summer and players of both teams were physically and mentally drained, neither allowed this to sidetrack them from the goal they set out to achieve.
Both teams felt the crunch with limited pitching. The Blue Jackets had a couple in the tank but the Black Sox only had one, but it was their ace. After a rough first two innings, the Black Sox went up 5-0. The coaching staff led by Mike Tierney and Chris Sedon had a General Patton like speech in the 3rd and the Blue Jackets started fighting off the ropes. Manufacturing 1 at a time, it quickly became 5-3, Black Sox in the 7th inning. The Blue Jackets never gave up and in this instance, they came up short. The Berkshire Black Sox defeated MVP Blue Jackets 5-3 to win the Patriots Day Championship. Both teams were acknowledged in post game ceremonies for 1st & 2nd place and left with their heads high. We are extremely proud of what the MVP Blue Jackets 16/17u boys have done and will do. Keep your ears open foe the boys names on this roster as they will ring bells.
